George Carlin

posted Saturday, 5 July 2008

George Carlin was definitely one of the most versatile, wide-ranging comic on the American landscape in the past 50 years. And even though he has been dead for a few days now, I thought it necessary to devote a blog to him. I am not going to labor to paint a picture of George Carlin for you; or speak in reverential and glowing terms as is the norm when a person dies. I'll just let his work speak for him.

Below, you will find some of the material he has pumped out over his long and illustrious career. When you have the time, go through them and judge for yourself what manner of comic he was--and how he should best be remembered.

And many many more...

Hey, great to see you're still out there blogging! Just caught 1 of GC's 1st HBO special's last night, it's been ages, and he kept me laughing, but then, I remember his albums from the 1970's! Great man, great material! Also, had to comment on Serena and Venus, 2 amazing tennis players, couldn't ask for a better match! As I sit, listening to The Clash, live from 6/6/81 & "Corner Soul!"

Hey Kevin G:

Great to hear from you again. I hope you've been fine as well. You know, it always comes as shock to people to discover that the real GC is nothing like his fiery, no-nonsense, contrarian and anarchic onstage personality appears to be. He is the face of real talent, and it will be a long time before we get another comedian who forces and challenges us to reconsider what we may have always taken forgranted; and laugh at the little mundane issues that unites us all. May his soul R.I.P!

Glad to hear from you again, and I wish you the very best.
